Dr. David Satcher, Director, The Satcher Health Leadership Institute and the Center of Excellence on Health Disparities, and the Poussaint-Satcher-Cosby Professor of Mental Health, Morehouse School of Medicine, Atlanta, Georgia, presented the 2013 Annual Urban Health Lecture at Georgia State University. This year, the lecture was delivered as the keynote address for the first Urban Health Disparities Summit at Georgia State. Over 300 persons were in attendance in Speaker’s Auditorium.
Dr. Satcher, who previously served as the United States Surgeon General and the Director, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, spoke on the theme “Targeting the Social Determinants of Health.” He discussed many aspects of health disparities and their determinants, as well as the need for leadership in this area.
